CAKY Tuition Benefit

How it Works

Metropolitan College/CAKY students will receive tuition remission for up to six (6) credit hours at the Kentucky resident rate in the fall and spring semesters and up to three (3) credit hours in the summer terms at either Jefferson Community and Technical College or the University of Louisville contingent upon that student meeting the Metropolitan College/CAKY requirements explained below. Students must pass each class with a “C” or better in order to qualify. Tuition benefits will not be paid for classes in which students receive an incomplete, audit, or withdraw from a course.

Students participating in Metropolitan College/CAKY must go through the admission, assessment, orientation, advising, and registration process at Jefferson Community and Technical College and University of Louisville like all other students. Upon completion of registration, the student will need to complete a Metropolitan College Student Agreement, commonly referred to as the “contract”. This can be done at the following locations:

  • Downtown Campus of JCTC
200 West Broadway, 9th floor (across from McDonald’s)
  • Southwest Campus
    Student Community Building, Rm. 102
  • UofL
Room 03 of the Houchens Building

How Tuition is Paid Each Semester

Each semester Metropolitan College/CAKY students must sign a Metropolitan College Student Agreement (contract). The bursar or cashier office at each institution is notified of the student’s status as a Metropolitan College/CAKY participant at the beginning of the semester. Do not pay your tuition when you register for classes. Instead, follow the directions provided by the Metropolitan College Office at the institution you are attending.

Please note any federal and/or state grants, loans, scholarships or any other financial aid in an amount equal to tuition owed for the semester will be held in an school account until the contract period ends and Metropolitan College and CAKY have processed tuition payment to the school. After payments have been made, the amount held will be refunded minus any money due to the institution above and beyond the amount CAKY will pay.

Financial Aid

Although CAKY employees participating in Metropolitan College are not required to apply for financial aid, it is highly recommended...

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the academic year in which you are starting.

Employment

If you do not work through the employment commitment dates listed on your Metropolitan College/CAKY Student Agreement, please be advised that you will be financially responsible for the tuition incurred for the time period in question.

Withdrawal or Failure

If you withdraw from, or fail, a course or courses please be advised that per the Metropolitan College/CAKY Student Agreement you will be financially responsible for the tuition incurred for those courses.
