Humana Higher Education Tuition Benefit
How it Works
Through the Humana Higher Education Program’s partnership with Metropolitan College,
students may receive tuition remission at the Kentucky-resident undergraduate rate at either Jefferson Community and Technical College or the University
of Louisville contingent upon meeting the Humana Higher Education Program
requirements explained below. Students must pass each class with a “C”
or better to qualify. Tuition benefits will not be paid for classes from which a
student withdraws or in which a student receives a “D”, failing grade, incomplete, or audit.
Students participating in Metropolitan College through the Humana Higher Education Program
must go through the admission, assessment, orientation, advising, and registration process at Jefferson Community
and Technical College or University of Louisville as all other students do. Upon
completion of registration, the student will need to complete a Metropolitan College
Student Agreement, commonly referred to as the “contract”. Students can complete the
Student Agreement at the following locations:
- Downtown Campus of JCTC
200 West Broadway, 9th floor (across from McDonald’s)
- Southwest Campus of JCTC
Student Community Building, Rm. 102
- University of Louisville
Room 03 of the Houchens Building
How Tuition is Paid Each Semester
Each semester students must sign a Metropolitan College
Student Agreement. The bursar’s or cashier’s office at each institution
is notified of the student’s status as a Humana Higher Education Program participant
at the beginning of the semester. Students should not pay tuition when registering for classes.
Instead, follow the directions provided by the Metropolitan College
Office.
Please note any federal and/or state grants, loans, scholarships or any other
financial aid in an amount equal to tuition and other charges owed for the semester will be held
in an school account until the contract period ends and Metropolitan College
and Humana have processed tuition payment to the school. After payments have
been made, the amount held will be refunded minus up to 50% of the tuition and
any money due to the institution above and beyond the amount Humana will pay.
Financial Aid
Humana associates participating in Metropolitan College must complete the
Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA) for the academic year in which they start. A new FAFSA must be filed
each year while in the program. Participants may not sign a Student Agreement unless
the FAFSA has been completed and is on file with their school’s Financial Aid Office.
Employment
Any student who does not work through the employment commitment dates listed on
the Student Agreement, will be financially
responsible for the tuition incurred for the time period in question.
Withdrawal or Failure
Students who withdraw from, or receive a “D”, failing grade, audit, or incomplete in a course
or courses will be financially responsible for the tuition incurred for those courses per the Student Agreement.
