Jefferson Community and Technical College
JCTC was formed on July 1, 2005, with the consolidation of Jefferson Community
College and Jefferson Technical College, two long-standing Louisville-based colleges.
A comprehensive, two-year college, JCTC is the largest in the Kentucky Community
and Technical College System. The college also is the state’s largest provider
of on-line courses, available through Kentucky Virtual University. JCTC offers a
wide-range of academic and technical programs to prepare students to study for a
four-year degree or to enter a career. The college offers associate degrees,
pre-baccalaureate education, diploma and certificate programs in occupational
fields; adult, continuing and developmental education; customized training for
business and industry; and distance learning.
As part of KCTCS, Jefferson offers students more options by allowing credits to
transfer across different KCTCS campuses. Both the community and technical colleges
benefit from KCTCS’ innovative efforts to expand affordable educational opportunities
throughout the state. As one of the founding education partners of Metropolitan College,
JCTC provides post-secondary options for Metropolitan College students that is accessible and convenient.
Students participating in the Metropolitan College program that attend JCTC benefit from flexible scheduling
developed to address the special requirements of these students that work in UPS overnight
hub.

University of Louisville
The University of Louisville is a state supported research university located in
Kentucky’s largest metropolitan area. It was a municipally supported public
institution for many decades prior to joining the state university system in 1970.
The University has three campuses. The 274-acre Belknap Campus is three miles
from downtown Louisville and houses seven of the university’s 11 colleges and
schools. The Health Science Center is situated in downtown Louisville’s medical
complex and houses the university’s health related programs and the University
of Louisville Hospital. On the 243-acre Shelby Campus located in eastern Jefferson
County are the National Crime Prevention Institute and the Information Technology
Resource Center.
