degree requirements, choosing a major and/or career path, and in establishing a
plan for graduation and beyond. Make sure your goals are S.M.A.R.T.

Explore, Choose & Declare a Major
Now is the time to begin exploring possible majors. Maybe conduct
informational interviews with those already in your chosen career field
or visit the Occupational Outlook Handbook
for more information. Be sure to speak with your academic advisor about the requirements
for those majors you're considering.
UofL students should speak with their academic advisor to learn the official
procedures of declaring a major and JCTC students must declare their major with
the Advising
Center.

You and your academic advisor will form an educational partnership to help obtain

Meet with an ULtra Advisor or JCTC Transfer Advisor
For those students looking to transfer to the University of Louisville, The University
of Louisville Transfer Program (ULtra) provides support and assistance for JCTC
students who plan to continue their education at UofL.
ULtra provides support before, during, and after the transfer process for
a smooth transition and degree completion at UofL. If students are looking to transfer
to other institutions besides UofL, then the JCTC transfer advisors are available
to provide guidance and point you in the right direction. Students can contact the
JCTC transfer advisors at jf-advising-center@kctcs.edu
or 213-2277.
Attend Transfer Event
What better way to learn more about the University of Louisville than to attend
transfer events sponsored by ULtra? ULtra
hosts "Transfer Days" right on the JCTC campuses which allows JCTC students the
opportunity to meet with UofL advisors and staff from various academic programs.
Familiarize Yourself with Campus Resources
Whether you need someone to talk to about personal problems, want to discover how
to earn credit through service learning, get involved with a Greek organization,
take Honors classes, or get help filling out your FAFSA, campus resources are available
to help. Find out where and how to get the 411 about these resources and more on
UofL's campus resources page
or JCTC's current students
page. If you're a JCTC MC student, don't forget to obtain your MC sticker
from a Student Development Counselor to provide you access to UofL resources.
Get Involved on Campus
A huge part of a college education doesn't take place in the classroom. It happens
outside of class when you participate in campus organizations, activities, and projects.
This is also an opportunity to develop skills that employers are looking for in
potential job candidates. Find out how to become involved in the political organization
of your choice, theatre groups, major clubs, cultural diversity or interfaith organizations,
single parent support groups, or Common Ground. Your educational experiences will
be enriched:
